With Ian and Joy both being aviators, what better place to tie the knot than at the end of Runway 14 overlooking the lake as the sun went down.

It was great to see two gliders as a backdrop and Ian and Joy’s friends sharing their special moment. We think the flypast honouring our two good friends was well received as the camera flashes started well before we reached the wedding site and lots of waving ensued as we overflew.

These pics of Cavalon and the two MTO Sport prior to leaving really show how beautiful sunsets can be at SkyRanch.

From now on friends of AutoGyro Australia will receive news and info and details of upcoming events  all direct to their Facebook account plus network with other gyro enthusiasts. We are also sure that many of our pilot family will be enthusiastically involved.

Rick, now affectionately known as Dexter, has been dedicated in his training with Senior Instructor Neil Farr and with his newly delivered MTO Sport Turbo which has been christened Dexterity, Rick along with wife Kay is looking forward to travelling far and wide.

Visitors to our stand at Natfly 2012 will most likely have spoken to Rick and Kay at some stage during the weekend. It was really great to see their enthusiasm and ability to relate experiences as a student and new MTO owner.

Next step for Rick is to amass his hours and complete his passenger endorsement and then travel far and wide so look out for Rick and Kay at flying and events and don’t be shy in saying hello – the gyro grin is infectious!

We had the latest offering from AutoGyro Germany, the Cavalon on display and of course the best selling MTO Sport but it was Cavalon that stole the show with its very roomy cabin, excellent panel and performance to match its futuristic styling.

This photo was taken early on Friday morning before the public descended on exhibitors for the three day festival of recreational aviation.

A highlight for the weekend was when Andrew and Helen, producers of Sport Pilot TV stopped by and shot a segment on Cavalon for their show which airs in July 2012. We even got Helen a relaxed flight in Cavalon on Sunday morning and judging by the grin we may just see her line up for another flight when the opportunity arrives. Look out for Sport Pilot TV, it’s all about recreational aviation.

Senior Instructor Neil Farr was kept very busy with trial flights during the weekend and there are a number of people booked in to follow up with initial training and more trial flights.

This year we had new MTO Sport owners Rick and Kay Elliot as part of the team and they were kept very busy and were able to give a student owners perspective to visitors to the stand.

A big thanks must also go to Robyn, Neil, Rick and Kay for a big effort and the great job they did in making sure everyone’s questions were answered. 

Mick who hails from Qurindi in NSW has been training regularly with Senior Instructor Neil Farr in his Cavalon and in the week leading up to his solo was solidly recapping on his training.

After doing a lot of research Mick chose Cavalon as the gyro which offered all the features and more that he was looking for – absolute comfort, luggage areas, quality of finish and range not to mention its futuristic looks.

Mick’s wife Lyn was on hand to see the big event and commented that he talks gyro constantly to whoever will listen so he has definitely got the bug!

The next step for Mick is his Cross Country and Passenger endorsements and from there look out or him as he plans for some serious air touring around this great country – you won’t miss the stunning paintwork. You may even catch up with him at NATFLY 2012!

The latest arrival will be a striking orange in colour and a real eye catcher both in the air and on the ground.

Dean has already logged a considerable number of hours in a short time as an MTO Sport pilot and is busting to do his conversion training and start exploring this great land from the air with partner Jenny.

Cavalon has lived up to its media hype and all that have seen it first hand are absolutely impressed by its finish, generous cabin area, stability and performance. As a sneak preview, we have included a pic taken at the factory of an identically coloured machine to Dean’s.

The day was quite a warm one with medium thermal activity developing so take note of the stability of the gyro during all phases of the flight!

Please note that the low flying sequences in this video were filmed over our SkyRanch facility under controlled conditions and they ably demonstrate the capability of Cavalon.

The scenery of Lake Keepit and surrounds is pretty good too. This area of Australia is an aviators paradise due to its excellent year round weather, lack of traffic and plenty of places to visit .

Dean has been training with our instructor Neil Farr (that’s Dean on the right) and has now got the gyro grin permanantly attached.

Dean is also an avid (Jenny might say obsessive) fisherman so we won’t be surprised if he combines the benefits of his newly ordered Cavalon with seeking out new fishing spots!

Look out for Dean and his ornge Cavalon at flyins and gyro outings. Again, congratulations Dean.

Over 70 people were at our SkyRanch facility on the day to see Cavalon up very close for the first time and many were able to sample its impecable flight characteristics first hand.

A number of MTO 3, MTO Sport and Calidus owners flew in specially for the occasion and if the smiles were any indication, the Cavalon definitely delighted them. The main comment was on how smooth and easy to fly the Cavalon was.

The aircraft pictured is our demonstrator respendanyt in its liquid chrome paint livery and as a result of the launch we have a very happy customer who ordered their Cavolon immediately after their demonstration flight.

 As a result of follow ups since the launch we anticipate that we will confirm orders for another three aircraft in the coming weeks which only confirms the status that this great aircraft already has around the world. 

Willi Ewig was on hand fresh from the AutoGyro factory to give all in attendance a run down on the design process and the background on the development and ultimate manufacture of this, the latest in state of the art gyro design followed by a very impressive demonstration of Cavalon in the air.

In Cavalon, the German manufacturer has raised the bar on gyro design to such an extent through design innovation, quality of finish and performance it will be some time before it will be seriously challenged in the marketplace.
